Chaz Guest – a gymnast AND an artist.
Coached by the incomparable Abie Grossfeld, Chaz Guest competed for Southern Connecticut State University on a full scholarship, and then went on to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He worked in Paris as a magazine illustrator in the 1980s, and then started a painting career in the 1990s. A portrait of 44th President Barack Obama that hangs in Oprah Winfrey’s home is one of his most iconic and well-known pieces of work.
“I have known Chaz for so long – it is so inspiring to see his incredible impact on art around the world,” says Wendy Hilliard. “He was an amazing gymnast and is an amazing artist- he has supported the WHGF over the years and it is an honor to highlight him.”
